Drunk Driver Rams Vehicles, Threatens Locals Near Himalaya Mall in Ahmedabad; Held

Ahmedabad: An intoxicated Thar driver caused chaos near Himalaya Mall in the city on Monday night after crashing into a vehicle and attacking bystanders. The situation quickly escalated as enraged locals retaliated and assaulted him before the police intervened.
The driver crashed into more than four vehicles before coming to a halt at around 9 pm. As furious bystanders surrounded the car, he brandished a weapon to threaten them. Alert locals immediately informed the police, who rushed to the scene. Meanwhile, the agitated crowd confronted the driver, who even attempted to intimidate the police upon their arrival. However, the officers used force to subdue and arrest him.
Eyewitnesses reported that several motorists were on the busy road near Himalaya Mall when a speeding car suddenly appeared and rammed into parked vehicles. After damaging four vehicles, the driver stopped, drawing the attention of passersby. As a crowd gathered, he pulled out a sharp weapon, attempting to instill fear. Some locals intervened and dragged him toward a nearby complex.
The visibly agitated driver continued making threats, escalating tensions further. Upon receiving a distress call, the police arrived at the scene, only to be met with more chaos as the driver allegedly brandished a stone at them. Locals claimed he was intoxicated and had caused panic after the accident.
The Vastrapur police confirmed the driver’s arrest, booking him under two separate cases—one for drunk driving and another for assault following the accident. DeshGujarat
