Gandhinagar: A burglar attempting to break into a house in Gandhinagar’s Sector-8 caught red-handed but suffered a heart attack and was subsequently hospitalized. The incident occurred late at night on the 23rd of the month when the homeowner returned to find the burglar inside.
According to the police report, Vidhin Tarakumar Patel, a resident of Gokul Society in Sector-8, had returned home around 2 AM after a three-day trip to his hometown, Navsari. Upon entering his residence, he found the main door’s lock broken and lying on the floor. Suspecting a burglary, he raised an alarm, alerting neighbors.
Upon investigation, Patel and his neighbors found a man rummaging through the house. The man, identified as Ranjit Parvat Das from Jafarpur, Kolkata, was caught red-handed. A search of Das revealed burglary tools, including an iron crowbar, screwdrivers, and a metal rod.
During the confrontation, Das complained of severe chest pain and revealed he was a heart patient. He requested Patel to retrieve a specific medication, Solbitrate tablets, from his pocket. A doctor among the neighbors confirmed the medication was for heart conditions and administered it to Das.
Police were called to the scene. Upon arrival, they found the house ransacked, with belongings scattered throughout the bedroom and other areas. Gold jewelry from the cupboard had been removed and placed on the bed.
Das was taken into custody but continued to complain of chest pain. He was initially taken to Gandhinagar Civil Hospital, where doctors suspected a heart attack. He was subsequently transferred to U.N. Mehta Hospital for further treatment.
Police have registered a case against Ranjit Parvat Das and are conducting further investigations. DeshGujarat
