Bharaj Railway Bridge Pillar Work to be Completed Before Monsoon: Mumbai Officials hold Inspection
March 26, 2025
Pavijetpur: High-ranking officials from Mumbai inspected the pillars of the railway bridge over the Bharaj River near Pavijetpur and assured that all work would be completed before the monsoon season.
Due to heavy rainfall last monsoon, the water flow in the Bharaj River increased, exposing the pillars of the railway bridge by approximately 15 feet. As a result, trains have been forced to slow down while crossing the bridge. Fearing a major disaster if heavy rain occurs again this monsoon, a Chief Officer from Mumbai Churchgate, along with his team, inspected the pillars at the Bharaj River bed in the afternoon. They discussed in detail the work required, including piling and liner installation, and provided instructions to the local officials.
The officials thoroughly understood the situation and assured that all pillar work would be completed properly before the monsoon.
Last monsoon, the road bridge over the Bharaj River collapsed, and an all-weather diversion was recently constructed. With the railway bridge being the only direct connection and its pillars also exposed by 15 feet, residents feared a major disaster if heavy rainfall occurs again this monsoon. While railway teams conduct regular inspections, the visit by the Mumbai Chief Officer and his detailed instructions have provided reassurance that the work will be completed before the monsoon.
