Woman Steals Expensive Patola Sarees from Ahmedabad Store on Opening Day

Ahmedabad: A brazen theft occurred at a clothing store in Ahmedabad during its opening, where a woman, posing as a customer, stole two expensive Patola sarees worth ₹1.20 lakh. The entire incident was captured on CCTV, and the store owner has filed a police complaint.

The incident took place at “Dhyan Creation,” a ladies’ clothing store located in the Vraj Valentia building on Science City Road. Urviben Patel, the store owner, had organized an opening ceremony, which was attended by number of guests and customers.

According to the complaint filed at Sola Police Station, a woman entered the store under the guise of a customer and, within 15 minutes, managed to steal a Patan Patola saree worth ₹90,000 and a Rajkot Patola saree worth ₹30,000. Urviben Patel, who was busy attending to the guests, noticed the missing sarees later and immediately alerted her family and the police.

Upon reviewing the CCTV footage, it was revealed that the woman, aged between 40-45 years, arrived at the store on a white Activa scooter. She entered the store with her face partially covered with a dupatta and pretended to browse through the clothes. She then strategically used a black dress to conceal her actions while she stole the two expensive sarees from the rack and placed them in her bag.

The police have registered a case and are investigating the matter. They are examining the CCTV footage to identify and apprehend the accused. The police are also investigating whether the Activa scooter used by the woman was stolen. DeshGujarat
