Ahmedabad: A couple from the Shah-e-Alam area has been booked for allegedly forging documents to obtain fake passports in an attempt to secure a US visa.
The city crime branch registered the complaint on Thursday at the DCB police station, naming Rajesh Sabuvala and his wife, Salima Sabuvala, for creating false identities and obtaining passports under different names from the Hyderabad Regional Passport Office (RPO).
As per the police, the couple originally had valid Indian passports issued from Ahmedabad. However, between 1998 and 2008, they allegedly used forged documents to obtain additional passports under the names Rajesh Mohanji Agrawal and Radhika Rajesh Agrawal, with Hyderabad addresses. The fraud was detected during visa verification when passport officials cross-checked records from the Ahmedabad and Hyderabad RPOs. Further investigation confirmed that the accused had used these forged documents to apply for a US visa.
A case has been registered against them under IPC sections 467, 468, 471, and 120(B), along with relevant sections of the Passport Act. DeshGujarat
