Gujarat govt gives police station status to Ahmedabad’s Joint Interrogation Centre
March 28, 2025
Gandhinagar: The Gujarat government has officially designated the Joint Interrogation Centre, Gujarat State, Ahmedabad, as a police station with jurisdiction over the entire state. The decision, notified in the Gujarat Government Gazette on March 27, 2025, has been made under the Bharatiya Nagarik Suraksha Sanhita, 2023.
As per the notification issued by the Home Department, the newly designated police station will handle the investigation of cognizable offenses under the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita, 2023, and other applicable laws. This move is expected to strengthen law enforcement capabilities across Gujarat.
It is noteworthy that earlier in January, the Gujarat government granted the State Monitoring Cell (SMC), functioning at Police Bhavan, the status of a separate police station. DeshGujarat
