IMD issues heat wave alert in parts of Gujarat as mercury soars

Ahmedabad: The mercury is soaring in Gujarat, with a heat wave affecting several parts of the state. On Wednesday, Surendranagar recorded the highest maximum temperature at 43°C.

The India Meteorological Department (IMD), in its latest weather forecast bulletin, stated that maximum temperatures are likely to remain between 42°C and 43°C in parts of the Gujarat region and Saurashtra-Kutch. Additionally, temperatures are predicted to rise by 2-3°C after 48 hours.

With rising temperatures and scorching conditions, heat wave alerts have been issued for various districts in Gujarat.

As per the IMD bulletin:

An orange alert has been issued for Porbandar till April 5, while Rajkot, Junagadh, and Kutch are under a yellow alert.

On April 6 and 7, an orange alert for heat waves is in place for Porbandar, Rajkot, and Kutch, while a yellow alert has been issued for Junagadh, Morbi, Banaskantha, Sabarkantha, Mehsana, Gandhinagar, and Patan.

On April 8, the orange alert extends to Porbandar, Rajkot, and Kutch, while Junagadh, Banaskantha, Sabarkantha, Mehsana, Gandhinagar, and Patan will remain under a yellow alert. DeshGujarat
