AICC Ahmedabad convention: 1,700 rooms booked in 35 hotels

Ahmedabad: The Congress party on Friday revealed that its upcoming All India Congress Committee (AICC) session in Ahmedabad will carry the theme ‘Nyaypath: Sankalp, Samarpan and Sangharsh’ — symbolizing ‘Path of Justice: Resolve, Commitment and Struggle’. The main conclave, scheduled for April 9, will see participation from over 1,700 elected and co-opted AICC members.

During a press conference today, Gujarat Congress stated that the Youth Congress and NSUI (National Students’ Union of India) will play an important role in the AICC convention. With over 1,700 delegates expected to arrive in Gujarat, 1,700 rooms have been booked in 35 hotels across the city. Additionally, 200 cars have been arranged by NSUI and the Youth Congress.

Furthermore, if guests wish to visit tourist places in Ahmedabad and Gandhinagar, the Youth Congress and NSUI will facilitate the visits. Around 500 volunteers, dressed in blue jeans and white T-shirts, will assist with arrangements for the two-day event. A total of 18 committees have been formed with NSUI and Youth Congress office-bearers as members.

The responsibility for branding and publicity of the event has also been assigned to the Youth Congress. As part of this effort, more than 500 hoardings (10×10), 4×10 cutouts, and two balloons will be displayed.

Traffic management and parking will also be overseen by Youth Congress and NSUI volunteers, who have been specially trained for the task.

Earlier, Congress General Secretary (Organisation) K C Venugopal informed reporters that an extended Congress Working Committee (CWC) meeting will be held on April 8. This meeting will include CWC members, permanent and special invitees, state unit presidents, parliamentary party leaders, council leaders, Central Election Committee (CEC) members, parliamentary office-bearers, and former chief ministers and deputy chief ministers — approximately 169 attendees in total.

Venugopal added that the AICC session will be held on the banks of the Sabarmati River on April 8–9. The extended CWC meeting will take place at the Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel Memorial.

He also highlighted that this year marks the centenary of Mahatma Gandhi’s AICC presidency and the 150th birth anniversary of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel — both iconic leaders from Gujarat. On April 9, the AICC plenary session will bring together elected members, MPs, ministers, and other senior leaders. DeshGujarat
