Maximum temperature touches 43°C in Ahmedabad; several Gujarat cities cross 40°C

Ahmedabad: The summer heat is becoming increasingly intense as the mercury touched the 43°C mark in the city on Sunday. Not just Ahmedabad, the entire state continues to reel under extreme heat, with maximum temperatures soaring significantly above normal levels on April 6. Several cities across Saurashtra, Kutch, and central Gujarat recorded temperatures between 42.5°C and 44.2°C, with Surendranagar emerging as the hottest at 44.2°C. Rajkot (43.9°C), Deesa (43.3°C), Bhuj (43.0°C), and Gandhinagar (42.5°C) also experienced severe summer conditions.
Among other cities, Vadodara recorded 41.8°C, while the mercury crossed the 40-degree mark in Surat, settling at 40.8°C.
Okha and Dwarka were among the relatively cooler cities, with maximum temperatures recorded at 33.4°C and 32.4°C, respectively.
Relative humidity levels remained low, dropping to as little as 8% in Bhuj by 5:30 PM. The heatwave is likely to persist, with meteorological data showing continued temperature anomalies of 3°C to 6°C above normal across multiple districts.
