RSS extends support to demands of Vyayam Shikshaks protesting in Gujarat

Gandhinagar: For the past several days, physical education teachers (Vyayam Shikshaks) have been staging a protest in the state capital. A large number of teachers from across Gujarat have gathered in Gandhinagar, demanding permanent recruitment for physical education teachers.

Today, the Gujarat wing of Krida Bharati, an Indian sports organization formed by the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh, announced that it has extended its support to the protesting teachers.

In a press note, Krida Bharati stated, “While efforts are being made by the Indian government to host the Olympic Games in 2036, the recruitment process for physical education teachers in primary, secondary, and higher secondary government and non-government aided schools in Gujarat has not been conducted for the past one and a half decades. Sports assistants have been agitating for this demand for a long time.”

“Krida Bharati, Gujarat has extended its support to the protesting sports assistants and has demanded that the recruitment process for physical education teachers begin immediately. In this regard, Krida Bharati submitted a memorandum to the District Collectors of all districts across Gujarat, urging them to bring the matter to the government’s attention,” the note added.

A large group of members, led by Krida Bharati’s Western Region Coordinator Rameshbhai Prajapati and Karnavati Mahanagar President Pratapsinh Jhala, visited the Ahmedabad District Collector today and submitted a representation demanding swift action on the recruitment. Similarly, applications were submitted to the Collectors of Mehsana, Patan, Vadodara, Surat, Tapi, Sabarkantha, Anand, Palanpur, Navsari, and several other major districts. A significant number of workers, sports assistants, teachers, and athletes participated in the initiative.

According to the protesting teachers, no permanent recruitment of physical education teachers has taken place in Gujarat for the last 15 years. Currently, teachers across the state are employed on 11-month contract-based jobs. Physical education teachers from all over Gujarat are protesting in hopes of securing permanent positions. Despite raising the issue repeatedly with the government over the past 13 years, no resolution has been achieved yet. DeshGujarat
