CWC meeting of Congress underway in Ahmedabad

Ahmedabad: The meeting of the Central Working Committee (CWC), the highest decision-making body of the main opposition Congress party, is being held today at the Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel National Memorial here, while the All India Congress Committee convention will be held at Sabarmati Riverfront tomorrow. The CWC meeting is being attended by the leader of the opposition, Rahul Gandhi; Congress Parliamentary Party Chairperson Smt. Sonia Gandhi, party president Mallikarjun Kharge and other members. Congress General Secretary Priyanka Gandhi skipped the CWC meeting as she is traveling abroad. She may, however, attend the AICC session tomorrow. Over 1700 Congress leaders are staying in 35 hotels across the city in connection with the Congress party events. More than 3,000 delegates from across the country—including Chief Ministers of Congress-ruled states, state presidents, CWC members, and special invitees – are expected to attend the AICC session.

The agenda includes reviewing major political developments, preparing for upcoming elections, and strategizing ways to strengthen the party.

Ahead of the session, Congress MP Pramod Tiwari expressed confidence, stating that the party would announce its resurgence from the land of Gandhi. MP Abhishek Manu Singhvi echoed this sentiment, emphasizing the need to infuse new energy and direction under the leadership of Rahul Gandhi and Kharge. Meira Kumar also voiced optimism, noting Gujarat’s historical contribution to the Congress’s strength.

Congress MP Shashi Tharoor remarked that these meetings offer a vital platform to chart the nation’s future. He also pointed out the historical relevance, noting that this year marks the centenary of Mahatma Gandhi’s Congress presidency and the 150th birth anniversary of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel. DeshGujarat
