Work begins on 1.3-km tunnel in Poshina for Taranga Hill–Ambaji–Abu Road rail project

Poshina: The work on the 116.65-km Taranga Hill–Ambaji–Abu Road new railway line is ongoing, and as part of the project, construction of a 1.3-km-long tunnel has begun in the hilly terrain of Poshina taluka.
This tunnel will be the largest in Gujarat, with a height of 8 meters and a width of 10 meters.
The Union Railway Ministry and the Gujarat Government are jointly carrying out the project in five phases. The project is estimated to cost ₹2,798.16 crore.
The work is expected to be completed in the next five years. The railway line will pass through six rivers and 60 villages, benefiting 104 villages across three districts of Gujarat.
Along the full route, 11 tunnels, 54 major bridges, and 151 minor bridges will be constructed. The line will include 11 stations in Gujarat and 4 stations in Rajasthan. The project, which began in the latter half of 2022, is slated for completion within five years. DeshGujarat
