City bus mows down pedestrians, vehicles in Rajkot; 4 dead

Rajkot: A tragic accident unfolded in the city this morning when a speeding electric city bus ploughed into multiple vehicles and pedestrians at a traffic signal near Indira Circle, resulting in the deaths of three people and injuries to two others.
Following the accident, a large crowd gathered at the scene and vandalized the bus after it came to a stop some distance away. To bring the situation under control, police resorted to a baton charge. Authorities have detained the bus driver, and an investigation into the incident is currently underway.
CCTV footage of the incident has gone viral on social media, showing the speeding bus striking several people shortly after the traffic signal turned green. The footage clearly shows that as vehicles began moving forward, the city bus suddenly approached from behind and rammed into innocent bystanders while attempting to speed through.
The deceased have been identified as Sangeetaben Bel Bahadur Nepali (40), Rajubhai Manubhai Geeda (35), and Chinmay Bhatt. The injured have been identified as Suresh Dharmeshbhai Raval and Vishal Makwana.
Following the accident and the ensuing chaos, Rajkot Police Commissioner Brajesh Kumar Jha, Joint Police Commissioner Mahendra Bagadia, DCP Traffic Pooja Yadav, DCP Crime Parthraj Singh Gohil, along with police teams from Gandhi Gram, University, Malviya, Crime Branch, and SOG, as well as MLA Dr. Darshita Shah, visited the accident site.
Standing Committee Chairman Jaymin Thakar stated that strict action would be taken against the agency operating the city bus in coordination with the municipal corporation. He also assured that financial assistance would be provided to the families of the deceased, and the agency would not receive any payments until the investigation is complete. DeshGujarat
