Gandhinagar: Gujarat government today informed that it has given in-principle approval of a total of Rs. 1,534.19 crore for the permanent disposal of rainwater overflowing in the Ghed area during the monsoon. The estimated amount of Rs. Tenders for works worth Rs. 139.42 crore have been approved and the work will be started soon.
He further said that the second phase of the works includes bank protection works on main rivers and estuaries, renovation works of existing structures on rivers/estuaries, diversion works of main rivers, construction of structures for effective water disposal at the mouths of rivers. For this, in-principle approval has been given by the Narmada, Water Resources, Water Supply, and Kalpsar Department for works worth an estimated Rs. 1,534.19 crore. While in the third phase of this area, new constructions on the mouths of rivers, internal connections of main rivers and water storage structures in the upstream of the Ghed area will be planned to be undertaken.
The completion of these three phases of work will provide a permanent solution to the problem of flood water from various rivers flowing in the Ghed area, which will benefit the farmers of this area the most, Minister added. DeshGujarat
