Surat: A 12-year-old boy, the only child of his parents, died after a piece of plaster of Paris (POP) fell on him. The victim, Mantra Ketanbhai Akbari, was a Class 6 student living in Blue City apartment in the Simada area of Surat. The family originally hails from Savarkundla in Amreli district.

Mantra was playing on April 11 in his apartment complex with friends when a piece of plaster of Paris fell on him from the 5th floor of the building. He suffered serious injuries and was immediately taken to SMIMER Hospital, from where he was referred to a private hospital for further treatment. He succumbed to his injuries on Tuesday afternoon.
