Ahmedabad: Suzuki Motor Corporation (SMC) of Japan and Maruti Suzuki India Limited (MSIL) will jointly set up the Osamu Suzuki Centre of Excellence (OSCOE) in Gujarat and Haryana, as a tribute to the late Osamu Suzuki, former SMC Chairman, MSIL announced on Wednesday.

The centre aims to spread Japanese manufacturing excellence across India, in line with Osamu Suzuki’s legacy that played a crucial role in shaping Maruti Suzuki’s success and revolutionizing India’s auto industry. According to MSIL, OSCOE will build infrastructure and collaborate with academic institutions to offer structured programs, seminars, and dialogues promoting Japanese production principles. It will also work to enhance the capabilities of component makers across all levels of the supply chain.

Though primarily focused on the automobile sector, OSCOE’s initiatives will also extend to other manufacturing areas. Company representatives added that the centre will recognize Suzuki’s role in India’s industrial development and support the nation’s goal of becoming globally competitive in manufacturing.
