Kutch: A 21-year-old man from Bihar was arrested and placed in judicial custody in Kutch last week after being found near the Line of Control (LOC) along the India-Pakistan border.
Sameer Shamsher Mohammad Ansari, a resident of Damodarpur in Muzaffarnagar, Bihar, was found under suspicious circumstances near the Zazam Forward Border Outpost (BOP) on April 19 by a Border Security Force (BSF) Assistant Commandant posted at the Gujarat Frontier. Authorities stated that Ansari claimed he was en route to a dargah (Sufi shrine) but lost his way.
During questioning, the youth told authorities that he had visited a dargah in Bela village before getting lost. Meanwhile, the investigation is ongoing. Among the items found with him were ₹340 in cash, a mobile phone, passport, bank passbook, Aadhaar card, PAN card, college ID card, train and bus tickets, and other personal belongings. He was taken into custody by BSF personnel and handed over to Balasar police station.
The FIR states that Ansari failed to provide a credible explanation for being near the border. He has been booked under Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) section 223 and section 3(6) of the Criminal Law Amendment Act. DeshGujarat
