Gujarat High Court clears Town Planning Scheme 67 in Hansol

Ahmedabad: The Gujarat High Court has rejected five petitions challenging the preliminary Town Planning Scheme 67 in Hansol, which includes plans for road construction. The court emphasized that due to the city’s rapid development and rising vehicular traffic, a well-structured road network is essential.

The verdict could help facilitate the creation of new roads linking the airport-Dafnala road to the proposed eastern extension of the riverfront. The petitioners that are landowners in Hansol, situated between the Cantonment and the Sabarmati, had opposed the TP scheme, citing concerns over plot allotments and land reserved for economically weaker sections. They objected to the proposed 12m to 30m wide roads, arguing these were either unnecessary or negatively impacted their properties.

Justice Sangeeta Vishen, while dismissing the petitions, stated that accepting such objections would leave the 11.82 lakh sq m planning area without any road infrastructure, which is not viable given the city’s growth. DeshGujarat
