Maximum temperature nears 44°C in Gujarat

Rajkot: The daytime temperatures neared 44°C in Gujarat today, as Rajkot recorded the highest temperature in the state at 43.9°C, significantly above the normal mark. Surendranagar followed closely with a maximum temperature of 43.3°C, while Amreli registered 43.1°C.
According to the weather report issued, many parts of Gujarat witnessed intense heat. Ahmedabad recorded a maximum of 41.3°C, while Bhuj touched 42.0°C. The state capital Gandhinagar, along with Deesa and Bhavnagar, also witnessed mercury levels above 40°C.
Among the top four cities — Ahmedabad, Baroda, Surat, and Rajkot — Baroda recorded the daytime temperature at 39.8°C, while Surat, as usual, remained the coolest among them at 34.0°C.
As per the seven-day weather forecast by the India Meteorological Department (IMD), there will be no significant change in maximum temperatures over the next two days. However, a rise of 2–3°C is likely thereafter across the region.
Maximum temperatures are expected to range between 40°C and 44°C across parts of Gujarat and Saurashtra-Kutch from April 26 to May 2. No heatwave conditions have been forecast during this period. However, coastal areas of South Gujarat and Saurashtra-Kutch are likely to experience hot and humid conditions, causing discomfort from April 27 to May 1. DeshGujarat
