Panchmahal: Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel will inaugurate one of India’s largest lithium-ion battery recycling plants on May 1 during the Gujarat Day celebrations in Halol town. With an annual recycling capacity of 10,000 metric tonnes, the zero-waste facility has been developed at the existing Rubamin Private Ltd campus.

The project stems from an agreement signed during the Vibrant Gujarat Summit and aligns with both the state’s electronics policy and the Centre’s SPECS initiative for electronics manufacturing. According to Panchmahal district collector Ashish Kumar, the plant will recover key materials like lithium, cobalt, nickel, and graphite from used batteries.

Designed to operate with minimal electricity, the plant also has a self-sustained water recycling system and will integrate artificial intelligence and machine learning (AI/ML) into its operational processes. DeshGujarat
