Flood warning issued for villages downstream of Vasna Barrage on Sabarmati River

Ahmedabad: In light of the heavy rainfall in Ahmedabad district, authorities may soon release water from the Vasna Barrage into the downstream stretch of the Sabarmati river. The Irrigation Department has issued an urgent advisory regarding the potential water release.
According to a notice issued by the Deputy Executive Engineer of the Flood Control Cell, Ahmedabad Irrigation Scheme Division, water will be released from the barrage as needed. The advisory urges all relevant authorities to remain alert and inform villages that could be affected by a possible flood-like situation. Safety precautions should be taken in advance to prevent any damage or loss.
According to the Ahmedabad Municipal Corporation’s control room data, the city recorded an average of 44.84 mm of rain overnight between 10 pm and 6 am, with an additional 27.14 mm between 6 am and 8 am this morning.
