Kubernagar ITI Underpass Shut for 15 Days; Traffic Diversion Announced
May 08, 2025
Ahmedabad: The Bridge Project Department of the Amdavad Municipal Corporation has announced that the Shrimad Rajchandra Underpass (Kubernagar ITI Underpass) at Naroda in the eastern area will be closed to traffic to prevent accidents during the renovation work and to ensure smoother traffic flow. The underpass will remain completely closed from May 8 for 15 days, until May 22, or until the repair work is completed.
Alternative Routes
As an alternative route, vehicles passing through the underpass can take Galaxy Char Rasta, then proceed to Naroda Railway Overbridge, and finally head towards Kotarpur Turning via Toyota Showroom.
Another alternative route involves traveling from Naroda Patiya to Kubernagar Crossing via Maya Cinema, then proceeding to Kotarpur Turning and towards the airport.
A large number of vehicles pass through the underpass daily, so the closure is expected to cause significant traffic on the alternative routes for the next 15 days. Additionally, the presence of a railway crossing along the Maya Cinema route may further exacerbate traffic issues. Local residents are requesting that traffic police officers be stationed at key traffic points to manage the flow and minimize disruptions.
With the underpass closed, citizens will need to travel approximately two to three kilometers further to reach the airport and Indira Bridge. Due to the expected traffic congestion, passengers heading to the airport should plan to leave 30 minutes to an hour earlier than usual. DeshGujarat
