Bhuj: Drones were sighted at three locations in the border district of Kutch this evening, namely Bhuj, Kuarbet, and Lakhi Nala.
According to the Ministry of Defence, drones have been sighted at 26 locations from Baramulla to Bhuj, along the International Border (IB) and Line of Control (LoC) with Pakistan, including suspected armed drones posing potential threats to civilian and military targets. The locations include Baramulla, Srinagar, Avantipora, Nagrota, Jammu, Ferozepur, Pathankot, Fazilka, Lalgarh Jatta, Jaisalmer, Barmer, Bhuj, Kuarbet, and Lakhi Nala. The last three locations belong to the border district of Kutch in Gujarat.
In a concerning incident, an armed drone struck a civilian area in Ferozepur, leaving members of a local family seriously injured. Security forces have sanitized the area, and medical aid has been provided to the victims.
The Indian Armed Forces remain on high alert, actively monitoring and countering aerial threats with advanced anti-drone systems. Authorities have urged residents, particularly those in border districts like Kutch, to stay indoors, avoid unnecessary movement, and strictly follow official safety advisories. Meanwhile, a blackout has been imposed across the entire Kutch district until further notice.
Gujarat Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel visited the State Emergency Operation Center in Gandhinagar this evening to review ongoing coordination with district administrations and security agencies in light of the current situation and to assess preparedness for any possible emergencies.
“I gave necessary instructions and guidance to the officials. The state administration, along with central agencies, is fully alert and actively engaged in ensuring the safety of citizens,” he stated in a tweet.
