Interviewer who conducted mock interviews at Sardardham, removed from GPSC panel

Gandhinagar: Gujarat Public Service Commission (GPSC) has removed DM Patel from its panel of interviewers. DM Patel is a retired deputy commissioner of FDCA. He was found conducting mock interview sessions for Patidar community candidates at Sardar Dham on Wednesday.

Sardar Dham organization functions in Ahmedabad with a motive that maximum government posts should be filled by Patidar community (Patels) youths. The organization is funded and run by Patidar community donors to ensure maximum number of Patidar community youth’s recruitment in government jobs. DM Patel was on Friday and Saturday conducting interviews for recruitment of Drug Inspector at GPSC office. As this was noticed by GPSC Chairman Hasmukh Patel, he removed DM Patel from GPSC interview panel due to conflict of interest with immediate effect. With this, the interviews conducted in the last two days by DM Patel were also cancelled. DM Patel had conducted interviews of 25 to 30 candidates.

It’s worth noting that Patidar community leader Naresh Patel had a few years ago publicly stated that from peon to chief secretary, there needs to be Patidars in the Government. Sardar Dham, which is run by Gagji Patel, a Patidar community leader, offers lodging, boarding, coaching and training to Patidar community students free of cost in its facility to make sure that community’s youths are everywhere in government and take care of the community’s interests. Every year, a felicitation function of successful candidates is held at Sardar Dham, which is attended by Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel and other dignitaries. Inspired by this, a few other communities and organizations are also developing such facilities. For example, Gujarat Assembly Speaker and Tharad MLA Shankar Chaudhary has recently declared that lodging, boarding, coaching, and training facility will be created in Gandhinagar by Banas Dairy soon for students who prepare for competitive exams.
