Amreli: In a tragic incident, a 22-year-old youth, Ardeepbhai Jasubhai Khuman, was killed in a lion attack late Monday night in Luwariya village of Lathi taluka.

It is learned that there has been increased lion movement in the village, leading to several sightings. According to locals, the incident occurred late at night during a lion sighting, when the youth was attacked and mauled to death by the lion. The victim was taken to Amreli Civil Hospital for a post-mortem. After the post-mortem, the final rites of the deceased were performed early in the morning.

Locals are alleging that despite being aware of lion activity in the area, the forest department did not take any preventive measures, raising questions about its functioning.

Multiple forest department teams have now launched an investigation into the incident. Senior officials are currently looking into the matter, though the department claims it was unaware of the incident. DeshGujarat
