IMD issues orange alert for heavy rainfall in some parts of Gujarat from May 23-25

Ahmedabad: The state of Gujarat is witnessing pre-monsoon activity due to an upper air cyclonic circulation persisting over the Arabian Sea. The India Meteorological Department (IMD), in its latest forecast, has predicted widespread light to heavy rainfall across Gujarat for the next seven days till May 27.
According to the forecast, an orange alert has been issued for some districts in coastal South Gujarat and Saurashtra for May 23 and May 25, with expectations of heavy to very heavy rain. A yellow alert has been issued for several other districts.
As per the IMD bulletin, light to moderate rain/thundershowers are very likely to occur in all districts of Gujarat over the next seven days.
District-wise Alerts:
May 21: Yellow alert for Bharuch, Surat, Dang, Navsari, Valsad, Tapi, Daman, Dadra & Nagar Haveli, Rajkot, Junagadh, Amreli, Bhavnagar, Gir Somnath, and Diu as heavy rainfall is very likely.
May 22: Yellow alert for Anand, Chhota Udepur, Narmada, Bharuch, Amreli, Bhavnagar, Gir Somnath, and Diu.
May 23: Orange alert for Navsari, Valsad, Daman, Dadra & Nagar Haveli, Amreli, and Bhavnagar. Yellow alert for Rajkot, Junagadh, Gir Somnath, Bharuch, Surat, Narmada, Tapi, and Dang.
May 24: Orange alert for Navsari, Valsad, Daman, Dadra & Nagar Haveli, Junagadh, Gir Somnath, and Diu. Yellow alert for Surat, Dang, Tapi, Rajkot, Porbandar, Amreli, Bhavnagar, Junagadh, Gir Somnath, and Diu.
May 25: Orange alert for Dang, Navsari, Valsad, Junagadh, and Gir Somnath due to possibility of heavy to very heavy rainfall. Yellow alert for Surat, Tapi, Rajkot, Porbandar, and Amreli.
May 26: Heavy rain is likely in Dang, Navsari, Valsad, Tapi, Daman, Dadra & Nagar Haveli, Junagadh, Gir Somnath, and Diu, while the rest of Gujarat is expected to receive light rain.
Weather System:
The upper air cyclonic circulation that was lying over northeast Rajasthan and adjoining south Haryana at 0.9 km above mean sea level has become less marked.
Another cyclonic circulation extending up to mid-tropospheric levels over the Eastcentral Arabian Sea off North Karnataka-Goa coasts continues to persist. Under its influence, a low-pressure area is likely to form over the same region within the next 12 hours.
