Ahmedabad: Prime Minister Narendra Modi will flag off the new Sabarmati–Veraval (Somnath) Vande Bharat Express on May 26, 2025, during his visit to Gujarat. This much-anticipated semi-high-speed train will connect Ahmedabad’s Sabarmati station with the famous pilgrimage site of Somnath Mandir in Prabhas Patan, offering a fast and comfortable journey for both pilgrims and tourists.

The new Vande Bharat Superfast Express (Train Nos. 26901/26902) will run six days a week, except Thursdays, covering 438 km in approximately seven hours. It will stop at key stations including Chandlodiya, Viramgam, Surendranagar, Wankaner, Rajkot, Bhakti Nagar, and Junagadh. The service is expected to boost regional connectivity and tourism, providing a modern, fully electric, high-speed travel option to the iconic Somnath temple.

It is noteworthy that this is the second semi-high-speed train to the Saurashtra region, the first being the Ahmedabad–Okha Vande Bharat Express, which connects Gujarat’s largest city to another temple town, Lord Krishna’s Dwarka. However, with this new service, travelers will also be able to visit the major tourist and pilgrimage destination of Girnar in Junagadh, as the train includes a stoppage there.
