History-sheeter Irfan, aides held for extortion and assault in Vadodara

Vadodara: The Navapura police have arrested notorious history-sheeter Irfan Pathan and his two accomplices for allegedly assaulting shopkeepers and extorting money. As per the reports, Irfan has a long criminal history, with 36 registered cases, including assault, robbery, illicit liquor trade, and extortion.

In recent weeks, two separate complaints were filed against Irfan. One complaint was lodged by Dineshbhai Motilal Shah (62), a utensil shop owner at Bhagyaodaya Complex near Siddhanath Road, who stated that on May 30, Irfan and his associates entered his shop, beat him up, and looted ₹23,000 in cash. Irfan also threatened to return on the 5th of the next month and demanded ₹50,000, warning that failure to comply would cost him his life.

Another complaint was filed by Shardaben Rajeshbhai Mali, a resident of Mali Mohalla, Navapura, who alleged that Irfan also extorted money from her using threats.

Acting swiftly, the Navapura Police arrested Irfan alias Raja Azizkhan Pathan (resident of Muslim Mohalla, Navapura), along with his aides Uday Santosh Sonawane (36) (resident of Narayani Complex, Navapura) and Ajay alias Bodiyo Kalidas Chunara (26) (resident of Rabariwas, Navapura).
