Automatic E-detection system generates wrong memos

Gandhinagar: E-detection has been started in Gujarat for vehicles. In this system e-memos are generated, when vehicles moving without fitness, insurance, PUC pass through the toll plaza. It is however noticed that sometimes wrong memos are generated by the system. About 350 such wrong memos have been generated in Gandhinagar. After checking the data, such memos will be canceled by the RTO.

E-memo is issued based on the vehicle number when the vehicle passes through the toll plaza. If the vehicle does not have fitness, insurance, PUC or permit or if it is expired, an e-challan is generated by the software. This system has been running for two months. It has come to notice that as many as 350 memos have been generated incorrectly in Gandhinagar, following which many vehicle drivers reached the RTO office with a representation. Most of such wrong memos were generated despite having insurance.

It is learnt that now such memos will be canceled after checking the insurance details in Vahan-4. According to knowledgeable sources, after the vehicle driver takes insurance, it is updated in Vahan-4 within 24 hours. Sometimes, due to a spelling mistake or a single digit mistake, the memo does not appear in Vahan-4 despite being there. In such situations, memos are generated without showing the data. DeshGujarat
