Ahmedabad: The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has provided a fresh update on the synoptic situation, indicating a steady progression of the Southwest Monsoon across the Indian subcontinent.

As per the latest forecast by the IMD, the monsoon, which made an early onset over Kerala on May 24th, is likely to advance into parts of Gujarat within the next 3 to 5 days.

According to the IMD, the Northern Limit of Monsoon (NLM) currently passes through:
17.0°N/55°E, 17.5°N/60°E, 18°N/65°E, 18.5°N/70°E, Mumbai, Ahilyanagar, Adilabad, Bhawanipatna, Puri, Sand Head Island, 23.5°N/89.5°E, Balurghat, and 30°N/85°E.

The department has stated that conditions are favourable for further advancement of the Southwest Monsoon into:

• Some more parts of Vidarbha, Chhattisgarh, and Odisha over the next two days,

• And parts of Gujarat, West Bengal, Jharkhand, and Bihar in the subsequent three days.

Additionally, generally westerly winds are prevailing at the lower levels across the region, further supporting the monsoon’s progression.

With increasing moisture and favourable wind patterns, more widespread rainfall activity is expected in the coming days, particularly in central and eastern India, as well as parts of Gujarat. DeshGujarat
