BJ Medical College Hostels Vacated for AAIB Probe; All Students Shifted

Ahmedabad: The hostels of BJ Medical College that sustained damage during the Air India plane crash are being vacated to facilitate an investigation by the Aircraft Accident Investigation Bureau (AAIB).
Briefing the media about this development, the BJ Medical College Dean, Dr. Minakshi Parikh said, “All four hostels of Atulyam are vacated or being vacated, as the Aircraft Accident Investigation Bureau (AAIB) has to carry out an investigation there. The accommodation of the postgraduate students living in those hostels has been arranged. There were 33 doctors in Atulyam-1 plus 5 doctors of UN Mehta Hospital, who have been given accommodation in the postgraduate wings A, D, and B of the UN Mehta Hostel. From Atulyam 2 and 3, where 100 doctors of GCRI were living, 52 have been shifted to the old building of GCRI, which was not in use till now, and for the remaining 48, we have rented 50 rooms for a year. Out of 21 students of Atulyam-4, 9 are shifted to the dental staff quarters and 12 are moved to Mithila quarters. Arrangements for all the students have been made.”
The crash involved a Boeing 787 Dreamliner (Flight AI 171) carrying 242 passengers and crew, which plummeted into the college’s hostel and canteen complex in Meghaninagar shortly after taking off from SVPI Airport on Thursday afternoon. DeshGujarat
