New Delhi: In the wake of the tragic crash of an Air India Boeing 787 aircraft, the Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) has instructed Air India to conduct additional safety checks on its Boeing 787-8 and 787-9 aircraft fitted with Genx engines as a precautionary measure. The DGCA has mandated that these inspections begin immediately, in coordination with its regional offices.

According to an official statement, the DGCA specified that a one-time inspection must be conducted before each flight departure. This includes:

a) Inspection of fuel parameter monitoring and associated system checks
b) Inspection of cabin air compressor and associated systems
c) Electronic engine control system test
d) Engine fuel-driven actuator operational test and oil system check
e) Serviceability check of the hydraulic system
f) Review of take-off parameters

Additionally, the DGCA has called for the inclusion of flight control inspections during transit checks until further notice.

The aviation authority has also directed that power assurance tests be completed within two weeks and that any maintenance actions based on recurring technical issues over the past 15 days be addressed without delay. All findings from these inspections must be submitted to the DGCA for review. DeshGujarat
