Surat: With the onset of monsoon in Gujarat, widespread rainfall is predicted across the state over the next seven days, according to the latest forecast by the India Meteorological Department (IMD). During this period, some districts are likely to receive heavy to very heavy rainfall, with isolated extremely heavy showers expected in parts over the next 48 hours. As a result, red alerts have been issued in several districts.

As per the IMD bulletin, a red alert has been issued for Surat, Navsari, Valsad, Amreli, and Bhavnagar for the next 24 hours, while an orange alert is in place for Bharuch, Dang, Tapi, Rajkot, Junagadh, Gir Somnath, and Botad during the same period.

Furthermore, heavy rainfall is very likely at isolated places in Ahmedabad, Anand, Vadodara, Chhota Udepur, Narmada, Surendranagar, Dwarka, Jamnagar, and Porbandar, while the remaining districts may experience light to moderate rainfall.

On June 17, a red alert has been issued for Junagadh, Gir Somnath, and Diu, while an orange alert is in place for Bharuch, Surat, Navsari, Valsad, Rajkot, Porbandar, Amreli, and Bhavnagar.

Meanwhile, Anand, Vadodara, Chhota Udepur, Narmada, Dang, Tapi, Dwarka, and Jamnagar may receive heavy rainfall.

On June 18, heavy to very heavy rainfall is very likely at isolated places in the Saurashtra districts of Porbandar, Junagadh, Dwarka, Gir Somnath, and in Diu, with an orange alert issued for these areas.

In addition, Bharuch, Surat, Dang, Navsari, Valsad, Tapi, Daman, Dadra and Nagar Haveli, Rajkot, Jamnagar, Amreli, and Bhavnagar are under a yellow warning for heavy rain.

By June 19, the intensity of very heavy rainfall is expected to decrease. However, a yellow alert remains for Dahod, Chhota Udepur, Narmada, Surat, Dang, Navsari, Valsad, Tapi, Amreli, Bhavnagar, and Gir Somnath.
