Bharuch: The Special Operations Group (SOG) of Bharuch Police has taken major action against Bangladeshi nationals living illegally in the district. The police have arrested 44 Bangladeshi nationals from Bharuch city, Ankleshwar city, and the Ankleshwar GIDC area in the last 48 hours.
11 men, 18 women, and 15 children have been detained in the operation led by SOG PI Anand Chaudhary. Investigations revealed that these individuals had been living in the area for periods ranging from two to 20 years. Most of them were working as labourers at fish ponds.
The police have also seized several documents from the detainees. Following the terrorist attack in Pahalgam, a state-wide investigation against foreign nationals is underway. This operation is part of that effort.
More than 100 Bangladeshi nationals have been arrested in Bharuch district so far. The 44 individuals detained in this operation will now be deported following consultation with the Union Home Department. DeshGujarat
