Gujarat Congress Suspends its Spokesperson for 6 years for Indiscipline

Gandhinagar: The main opposition Congress party in Gujarat has suspended its spokesperson Dr. Amit Nayak for six years. He has been suspended for using abusive language that could attract charges under the Atrocities Act. He is also accused of extortion, allegedly recorded in a telephone call audio clip. Additionally, he has been suspended for his writings on social media, which could harm the party’s image.

According to the suspension order signed by the party’s disciplinary panel head Balubhai Patel, Nayak’s letter seeking relief from party responsibilities and posts was shared on social media, and related news articles were published in various newspapers. Congress workers submitted a representation to the State party in-charge Mukul Wasnik regarding the matter, after which the case was handed over to the party’s disciplinary committee.

Balubhai Patel further pointed out that Nayak used derogatory words for the Scheduled Caste community, which could attract action under the Atrocities Act. An audio clip containing abusive language was submitted to the disciplinary panel, along with another clip allegedly indicating extortion activities.

Balubhai also noted that while party workers can make representations to party office bearers, they should not use social media or newspapers in a way that harms the party’s image. If a Congress leader is seen with BJP leaders at a public or social function, such images should not be misused on social media in a derogatory manner to imply misconduct.

He also pointed out that several photographs of Nayak with BJP leaders were found, but such pictures prove nothing. DeshGujarat
