IMD forecasts very heavy rains in Gujarat; Red alert in 2 districts, Orange alert in 7

The current spell of very heavy rainfall is set to continue in some districts of Gujarat for the next 7 days. However, the intensity is likely to reduce in many areas, as per the latest forecast by the India Meteorological Department (IMD). The IMD has issued a red alert for only two districts for the next 24 hours, while seven districts have been placed under an orange alert, with the possibility of very heavy to extremely heavy rainfall.

The red alert has been issued for Narmada and Tapi, where heavy to very heavy rains at a few places with isolated extremely heavy falls are very likely. Meanwhile, with the possibility of very heavy rainfall, orange alerts have been issued for Dahod, Chhota Udepur, Bharuch, Surat, Dang, Navsari, Valsad, and Daman and Dadra Nagar Haveli.

Additionally, heavy rains are also likely in Aravalli, Panchmahal, Mahisagar and Vadodara, and in parts of Saurashtra-Kutch including Amreli, Bhavnagar, Gir Somnath, and Diu.

On June 26th, though no red alert is in place for tomorrow, Aravalli, Dahod, Mahisagar, and Chhota Udepur are under orange alert. A yellow warning has been issued for Sabarkantha, Panchmahal, Narmada, Navsari, Valsad, and Daman and Dadra Nagar Haveli, Amreli, and Bhavnagar.

On June 27th, orange alert for heavy to very heavy rain is in place for Banaskantha, Sabarkantha, and Aravalli. A yellow warning is in place for Patan, Mehsana, Gandhinagar, Panchmahal, Dahod, Mahisagar, Navsari, Valsad, Daman, Dadra Nagar Haveli, and Kutch.

On June 28th and 29th, only two districts — Banaskantha and Patan — are under orange alert, while other districts likely to receive heavy rainfall include Mehsana, Sabarkantha, Aravalli, Dahod, Mahisagar, Navsari, Valsad, Jamnagar, Morbi, Dwarka, and Kutch.

On June 30th, very heavy rains might return to South Gujarat, with orange alerts issued for Valsad, and Daman and Dadra Nagar Haveli. Banaskantha, Dang, Navsari, Tapi, Amreli, and Bhavnagar may also receive heavy rains.

On July 1st, heavy to very heavy rains are expected in Dang, Navsari, Valsad, Daman, and Dadra Nagar Haveli, which are under orange alert. Meanwhile, Narmada, Surat, Tapi, Amreli, and Bhavnagar are under yellow warning.

During these 7 days, the rest of the regions in the state are likely to receive light to moderate rainfall. DeshGujarat
