Gujarat completes nearly 30% of average monsoon rainfall by Rath Yatra

Gandhinagar: Exactly 10 days after the arrival of the monsoon in the state and on the occasion of the Rath Yatra being held today in Ahmedabad, Gujarat has completed nearly 30% of its annual average rainfall. According to official data from the State Emergency Operation Centre, as of 6 am today, the state has received 256.96 mm of rainfall this monsoon season, amounting to 29.13% of the average annual rainfall.

As per the data, all 251 talukas in the state have received rainfall, with around 24 talukas recording over 501 mm (i.e., 19.7 inches) of seasonal rain so far. These talukas include Khedbrahma, Vadali, Khambhat, Jetpur Pavi, Jambughoda, Botad, Vyara, Dolvan, Bardoli, Kamrej, Palsana, Surat City, Umarpada, Chikhli, Khergam, Vansda, Dharampur, Kaprada, Pardi, Umergaon, Valsad, Vapi, Dang Ahwa, and Vaghai.

Zone-wise, South Gujarat has received the highest percentage of average rainfall at 31.20%, followed by the East-Central Zone at 30.93%. Additionally, Saurashtra has completed 30.36%, while Kutch and North Gujarat have recorded 23.68% and 21.50% of average rainfall, respectively.

Valsad district in South Gujarat has recorded the highest rainfall this season so far, with 717.33 mm, followed by Dang at 568.67 mm and Surat at 531.5 mm.

The southwest monsoon made its onset in Gujarat on June 16, covering most parts of the state by June 17. The remaining areas of North Gujarat were covered on June 18. DeshGujarat
