Groundnut oil processing unit set up at Khambhaliya APMC in Gujarat

Dwarka: With 2025 being celebrated as the ‘International Year of Cooperatives’, the Gujarat government has helped set up a groundnut oil processing unit for the first time at the Agricultural Produce Market Committee (APMC) in Khambhaliya, Devbhumi Dwarka, at a cost of over ₹1 crore. The ‘Nirmal’ brand groundnut oil produced here is receiving a positive response from the public, and with the daily increase in users, production has also seen a significant rise, an official statement said.

Agricultural Produce Market Committees have been established to ensure farmers in the state get fair prices for buying and selling their produce. Now, the Gujarat government, in collaboration with the Khambhaliya APMC, has taken a unique initiative to provide citizens with pure groundnut oil. Under this ‘Processing Unit Scheme,’ 50% of the total cost of setting up processing units at APMCs is provided by the Department of Agriculture, Cooperation, and Farmer Welfare.

It is worth mentioning that to produce ‘Nirmal’ groundnut oil, high-quality G-20 groundnuts from Devbhumi Dwarka and surrounding areas are cleaned using advanced grader, de-stoner, and round grader machines before crushing. This process removes stones, soil, dust, damaged kernels, and other impurities, including traces of chemical fertilizers and harmful substances. As a result, the oil extracted from this thoroughly cleaned groundnut is nearly organic and excellent for health. Furthermore, to maintain optimal levels of FFA (Free Fatty Acids) and PV (Peroxide Value), the oil undergoes cold processing and is filtered once more without adding any chemicals, ensuring the highest quality of groundnut oil.
