July 09, 2025
Ahmedabad: The Enforcement Directorate (ED) is expected to step into the ongoing probe involving alleged corruption by Dr. Montu M Patel, President of the Pharmacy Council of India (PCI). However, the agency has not yet issued an official statement on its involvement.
Earlier, the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) registered an FIR and conducted raids at two of Patel’s residences in Ahmedabad on Thursday last week. Patel is accused of widespread corruption, allegedly beginning from the time he assumed the PCI presidency and continuing through the pharmacy college approval process.
As per the reports, the scam includes the approval of colleges lacking proper infrastructure and even those with ghost faculty members.
According to the CBI FIR, a syndicate within the Union Health Ministry was involved. At least eight officials are accused of leaking confidential documents to agents and college representatives in return for large bribes. DeshGujarat
