PM Modi expresses grief over Gambhira Bridge collapse, announces ex-gratia for victims

New Delhi: Prime Minister Narendra Modi has expressed deep grief over the loss of lives due to the collapse of a bridge in Vadodara district, Gujarat. PM Modi also wished a speedy recovery for those injured in the accident and announced an ex-gratia from the PMNRF of ₹2 lakh to the next of kin of each deceased and ₹50,000 for those injured.

The Prime Minister’s Office posted on X: “The loss of lives due to the collapse of a bridge in Vadodara district, Gujarat, is deeply saddening. Condolences to those who have lost their loved ones. May the injured recover soon. An ex-gratia of ₹2 lakh from PMNRF would be given to the next of kin of each deceased. The injured would be given ₹50,000: PM @narendramodi”

Notably, Prime Minister Modi is on a five-nation tour to Ghana, Trinidad & Tobago, Argentina, Brazil, and Namibia, and he reached his final stop, Namibia, only this morning.

The tragic incident occurred around 8 AM today, when the bridge over the Mahisagar River, connecting Anand and Vadodara, gave way, sending several vehicles plunging into the river below. The incident has left 9 people dead so far, while 9 others have been rescued. DeshGujarat
