Ahmedabad: Union Home Minister Amit Shah on Wednesday shared his plans for life after politics, stating that he intends to take up natural farming and dedicate time to studying Hindu scriptures such as the Vedas and Upanishads.
Speaking at the ‘Sahkar Samvaad’ event in Ahmedabad, Shah offered a glimpse into his post-retirement goals. He said, “I have decided that whenever I retire, I will spend my life working for the Vedas, Upanishads, and natural farming,” a practice he believes offers substantial health and environmental benefits.
Shah noted that natural or organic farming, rooted in scientific principles, can combat the harmful effects of chemically grown crops. “Wheat cultivated with chemical fertilizers contributes to health problems like blood pressure, diabetes, thyroid disorders, and even cancer,” he warned. He added that natural farming reduces reliance on medication and promotes disease-free living.
He also spoke from personal experience, revealing that he witnessed a 1.5x increase in crop yield on his own farmland using natural methods.
Months earlier, the Home Minister had opened up about his health transformation, citing the benefits of disciplined routines. On World Liver Day, he mentioned that since May 2019, he had eliminated the need for allopathic medicines by maintaining a balanced lifestyle, which included proper sleep, pure water, healthy food, and regular exercise.
Shah also urged the youth to dedicate two hours to physical activity and six hours to quality sleep, emphasizing the importance of health for a long and productive life contributing to nation-building. DeshGujarat
