Surat: The process of demolishing dilapidated government residential buildings, nearly 40 years old, has been initiated at Magdalla under the Surat Road and Building Department-1, as they have been deemed hazardous for habitation. These buildings consist of a total of 5 blocks containing 136 houses.
An official press release stated that all the blocks have been evacuated, and alternative accommodation has been arranged for the affected families. Public notices restricting entry have been issued, and the buildings have been barricaded.
So far, demolition work has been completed on 3 out of the 5 blocks. The remaining work will be completed soon. The decision to demolish the buildings was based on a structural audit and preliminary inspection, according to Executive Engineer Prashant Chowdhury. DeshGujarat
