After brief pause, rains return to Gujarat; here it rained on Saturday

Ahmedabad: After a few days of subdued monsoon activity, several parts of Gujarat witnessed rainfall on Saturday. According to data from the State Emergency Operation Center, the heaviest downpour was recorded in Danta taluka of Banaskantha district, which received 106 mm (4.17 inches) of rainfall between 6 am and 8 pm. Other areas in Banaskantha, including Lakhani (2.76 inches), Amirgadh (2.68 inches), Palanpur (2.56 inches), and Deesa (2.28 inches) also saw substantial rain and were among the top five talukas that got rain today.
In Saurashtra, Morbi town recorded 2.2 inches, while Dhoraji in Rajkot district got 2.05 inches of rain, mainly in the evening hours. Kalyanpur in Devbhumi Dwarka received 1.69 inches, and Upleta in Rajkot recorded 1.46 inches.
Central Gujarat also saw fresh showers, with Nadiad in Kheda district recording 1.85 inches. In total, 142 talukas received rain till 8 pm, and among them, 19 talukas had over an inch of rain.
The return of widespread rain follows a few dry days earlier this week, reviving monsoon momentum across the state. The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has forecast continued rainfall in several parts of Gujarat over the next few days.
The heaviest rainfalls were mainly concentrated in North Gujarat, Saurashtra, and Kutch, aligning with the yellow alerts issued by the IMD earlier. Further, in the next 24 hours, some areas in the state — mainly Jamnagar, Morbi, and Kutch — might witness heavy rains. DeshGujarat
