Bhavnagar: The Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) of Gujarat today arrested an engineer of Bhavnagar Railway Division in a bribe case involving ₹65,000. The accused, Tippe Swami Lakkama Dasar, was posted as a Class-II Assistant Electrical Engineer at the DRM office in Bhavnagar.
As per the ACB, the complainant, an electrical contractor, had been awaiting approval for running bills worth around ₹10 lakh related to contracts awarded by Bhavnagar Railway Division. The accused demanded 4% of the bill amount as a bribe to clear those bills and an additional 0.5% of another work order, taking the total bribe amount to ₹65,000.
Unwilling to pay the bribe, the complainant approached the ACB. Following this, the ACB team laid a trap today and caught the accused red-handed at his office in the DRM building while accepting the entire bribe amount. DeshGujarat
