8 Killed as Cars Collide and Catch Fire in Gujarat’s Surendranagar

Surendranagar: Eight people were charred to death in a horrific road accident near Dedadara village in Gujarat’s Surendranagar district on Sunday afternoon, police said.
The accident took place around 3:30 pm when a Swift Dzire car collided head-on with a Tata Harrier SUV on the highway. The impact caused the Dzire to catch fire, trapping its occupants inside.
“Eight persons travelling in the car were burnt alive, while three passengers in the SUV managed to escape with minor injuries,” said Vadhvan police station inspector P.B. Jadeja.
Following the collision, locals, police personnel and a 108 emergency medical team rushed to the spot to carry out rescue operations. The accident also led to a traffic jam in the area, officials added.
8 deceased are identified as Minaba Rana, Rajeshwariba Rana both from Lakhtar, Pratipalsinh Chudasama, Riddhiba Chudasama, Kailashba Chudasama, Divashriba Chudasama, all four from Bhavnagar, Nitaba Jadeja from Jamnagar and Divyaba Jadeja from Gandhidham. Three persons are injured in this case of accident.
