Ahmedabad student killing: Traders observe bandh in several areas; Hindus demand justice within 15 days

Ahmedabad: The shocking murder of a minor student of Seventh Day School in Ahmedabad has sparked widespread anger among the Sindhi community, traders, and the general public. To protest the incident and pay tribute to the deceased boy, a “Shraddhanjali” (tribute) program was organized today by the Jan Aakrosh Wali Mandal Sangharsh Samiti.

Large crowds, including relatives of the victim Nayan, community leaders, and political representatives, attended the tribute event.

Dharmendra Bhavani, National Level Joint Secretary of the VHP, addressed the gathering, stating, “This is not just the murder of Nayan, but the killing of the pride of the entire Hindu society. If the government fails to show such murderers their place, then the Hindu society will.”

VHP described the act as an “Islam-inspired jihadi attack,” calling it a blow to Hindu society. Dharmendra Bhavani warned, “Hindus are being targeted in India, just like in Pakistan and Bangladesh. The community must unite and ensure justice.”

Demanding capital punishment for the accused, the victim’s father said, “We need justice, and not just a jail term of two years after which the accused will be released. We want the death penalty for this boy. Only then will justice be served.”

Expressing anguish over the school’s alleged negligence, he further added, “My son sat injured for 50 minutes on the school premises, but school authorities provided no help. Such institutions must be shut down. Unless the murderer is sentenced to death, my son’s soul will never rest in peace.”

In solidarity, several markets across Ahmedabad, including Kalupur, Relief Road, Sardar Nagar, and Kubernagar, remained closed following a bandh call by Sindhi organizations and trader associations. While many textile, electronic, and grocery markets downed shutters, some areas, like Madhupura, saw partial business activity.

Mahamandaleshwar Ishwari Nand Giri and MLAs Hasmukh Patel (Amraiwadi), Amul Bhatt (Maninagar), and Payal Kukarani (Naroda) were also present. They demanded swift justice for the victim and strict punishment for those responsible.

Furthermore, Hindu groups issued a 15-day ultimatum, warning that if justice is not delivered, a protest march will be carried out from Jagannath Temple to Seventh Day School, holding the government responsible for any consequences.

MLA Payal Kukarani assured, “The State Government stands with the family. The school’s negligence will not be forgiven, and the accused will be punished under the toughest laws available.”

The event saw banners reading “Justice for Nayan” and slogans like “Hum Sab Hindu Ek Hain,” alongside calls to close madrasas. DeshGujarat
