Gujarat govt to procure groundnut, moong, urad and soybean at MSP

Gandhinagar: Agriculture Minister Raghavji Patel announced that under the Pradhan Mantri Annadata Aay Sanrakshan Abhiyan (PM-AASHA), various crops are procured at the Minimum Support Price (MSP) to ensure farmers receive fair value for their produce. To benefit the maximum number of farmers this season, advance registration will be opened for groundnut, moong, urad, and soybean crops. Farmers across all districts of Gujarat can register online for MSP sales between September 1 and September 15, 2025.

Explaining further, the minister said that when market prices fall below MSP, the Government of India, under PM-AASHA and the Price Support Scheme (PSS), procures crops at support prices to safeguard farmers’ income. Accordingly, the Gujarat government has planned in advance to procure groundnut, moong, urad, and soybean at MSP this season so that more farmers can benefit. Henceforth, farmers in the state will be able to register for MSP procurement soon after sowing.

Registration for MSP sales will be conducted on the E-Samruddhi portal between September 1 and 15, 2025. Farmers may also avail themselves of free online registration at the village level through e-gram centers with the help of Village Computer Entrepreneurs (VCEs), the minister added.

Highlighting last year’s figures, the minister noted that the state government had procured a record 23.47 lakh metric tonnes of crops worth over ₹16,223 crore from more than 8.53 lakh farmers at MSP. This year too, the government will ensure sufficient procurement of kharif crops. He urged farmers to complete their registrations in order to take full advantage of MSP procurement.

It is noteworthy that the Government of India announces the MSP of crops before the sowing season begins, enabling farmers to decide on cultivation with assured minimum returns. For the current year, the MSP has been fixed at:

  • Groundnut: ₹7,263 per quintal (₹1,452 per maund)

  • Moong: ₹8,768 per quintal (₹1,753 per maund)

  • Urad: ₹7,800 per quintal (₹1,560 per maund)

  • Soybean: ₹5,328 per quintal (₹1,065 per maund)
