Birth & death registrations in Gujarat to shift to CRS Portal from Sept 1
August 30, 2025
Gandhinagar: The registration of births and deaths, earlier carried out through the Gujarat health department’s E-Olakh application, will now be done on the CRS Portal (Civil Registration System) operated by the central government. This change will take effect from September 1, 2025, with the portal becoming functional from 12:00 noon, according to a notification issued by the Department of Health and Medical Services.
The notification further stated that the CRS Portal will simplify the registration of birth and death events. Registrars of districts and municipal corporations have already been trained at the state level on how to use the portal. Additionally, staff members of government and private hospitals under municipal corporations, municipalities, and gram panchayats have also been trained. To prevent any issues, a central government team will monitor the portal through digital platforms and address queries.
Moreover, to ensure the quick completion of hospital mapping in urban areas on the CRS Portal, registrars will keep their offices open even on the public holiday of August 31, 2025, to complete all pending work, the notification added. DeshGujarat
