Vadodara Police Delays Mandatory Helmet Rule Enforcement to October 1st
September 15, 2025
Vadodara: The Vadodara city police have announced a 15-day postponement of the strict enforcement of the mandatory helmet rule for two-wheeler riders, pushing the new implementation date to October 1st. The decision, confirmed by Police Commissioner Narsimha Komar, comes in response to widespread public appeals and a frantic last-minute rush across the city to purchase helmets.
The rule was originally going for stricter implementation from September 15, prompting a surge in demand for helmets in the preceding days. Shops and roadside vendors were overwhelmed with customers as thousands of riders scrambled to comply to avoid the ₹500 fine. Many citizens argued that the sudden enforcement did not provide adequate time to purchase ISI-certified helmets. Responding to these concerns and numerous representations from citizen groups, the police department granted the extension as a final grace period.
Officials have made it clear that no further extensions will be granted and that a zero-tolerance enforcement drive will commence from October 1st. DeshGujarat
