Cop car rams rickshaw near Vishala Circle in Ahmedabad; beer bottles found in vehicle

Ahmedabad: The city witnessed yet another case of rash driving late on September 17, when a speeding car rammed into an autorickshaw near Vishala Circle. The impact was so severe that the rickshaw overturned, leaving the driver unconscious. Locals rushed to the spot, rescued the injured rickshaw driver, and shifted him to Civil Hospital in a 108 ambulance.

The car driver was immediately caught by the crowd and handed over to the police. It was later revealed that the vehicle was allegedly being driven by Constable Prakash Rabari, currently posted at Vatva police station. During investigation, police recovered a beer bottle, a police uniform, and a number plate from the car, further fueling suspicions of drunk driving.

Eyewitnesses alleged that the policeman was under the influence of alcohol at the time of the accident, though a preliminary breathalyzer test reportedly showed negative results. Police have sent blood samples for confirmation, and an FIR has been lodged by the M Division Traffic Police against the constable as the investigation proceeds.

The rickshaw sustained heavy damage in the collision, while the injured driver remains under treatment. Meanwhile, the incident has sparked public outrage, with many questioning rising cases of policemen allegedly driving under the influence and causing accidents in Ahmedabad. DeshGujarat
